Van Patten Golf Club
Located in picturesque southern Saratoga County, this 27-hole complex features large, mature greens with wide, sloping fairways and expansive views of the countryside. In 2004, the sequence of the holes was reconfigured for the building of the 15,000 square-foot Grand Clubhouse, The Vista. The impressive combination of clubhouse and course serve to make Van Patten a natural Saratoga golf destination.
Saratoga National was ranked by Golf Digest as one of America’s Best 100 Public Golf Courses for the 2007/2008 Season. It has received numerous accolades and awards from the National Golf Course Owners Association, Golf for Women Magazine, Golfweek and others.
This par 72 championship layout is a mix of styles, and is constructed on a former horse farm, with many wetland areas throughout. Water comes into play often, and 16 holes require forced carries off the tee. Though generally an open flat course, there is some elevation to the fairways, and the large greens play fast. There are 5 sets of tees to accommodate all skill levels, and the carts are GPS equipped. All fees include cart, unlimited use of the practice facility, use of a locker and other clubhouse amenities.
Golf Digest has rated The Sagamore as the “5th Best Public Course in New York State.” Conde’ Nast named it a top U.S. resort course and Golf Magazine honored it as a Silver Medal Resort. This Donald Ross track was designed and built with his careful supervision in 1928. As part of a $75 million restoration in 1985, the legendary course was fully restored according to Ross’ original blueprints.
In classic Ross fashion, this beautiful lakefront, hillside course takes full advantage of its natural environment. From the elevated first tee, you have a breathtaking view of Lake George and the Adirondacks. The holes are routed naturally through an upland meadow and the Adirondack woods. To add an accent to the mountainside terrain, Ross planted heather from his native Scotland.
A year-round resort and sports paradise, The Sagamore also offers first-class lodging, a European-style Spa and Sailing School.
